The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have produced a consultation which seeks views on proposals to amend the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations SI 1981/917.

The document is a response to a recommendation in Professor Löfstedt’s report “Reclaiming health and safety for all: An independent review of health and safety legislation“, and includes proposals to:

  • remove the requirement for the HSE to approve first-aid training and qualifications;
  • review the associated Approved Code of Practice L74 – First aid at work, to support employers with the changes.
